Tessera serves two cities. A 1920s Craftsman in downtown Port Angeles and a single-level remodel in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley each carry their own quirks — subfloors, moisture loads, layouts, and the materials that hold up to them. Working two cities instead of the whole peninsula means we know both well and answer the phone the next time something needs attention.

What We Account For Locally
The same install detail isn’t right in every home. A few things we adjust for that out-of-area contractors often don’t:
- Marine air and humidity. Bathrooms on the peninsula see more moisture than the same install inland. Waterproofing and grout choices are made accordingly — not pulled from a generic spec sheet.
- Older homes, settled subfloors. Port Angeles has a lot of pre-1960 housing stock. Subfloor deflection gets measured and corrected before tile goes down, not assumed away.
- Heated floors for shoulder seasons. Long, damp springs and falls make radiant floor heat one of the highest-value upgrades on the peninsula.
- Material lead times. Specialty tile and slab orders ship through Seattle or Tacoma. We build realistic timelines around the ferry and the 101, not the ones a Seattle showroom quotes.
- Rural water and septic. Bathroom remodels off public utilities get coordinated with well pumps and septic constraints — particularly in the Dungeness Valley.
